Wildflower Crochet Beach Cover Up | By Off The Hook Crochet Nook

hi everyone it's April from oth crochet nook and today I'm going to show you exactly how to make the Wildflower crochet vest I chose to use Payton's grace for this pattern in the colorway night I really wanted to use black so that it was something versatile in your closet that you could use over jeans and a tank top or even over your bathing suit and will give you the coverage that you need it's made up of two very long rectangles in this beautiful lace stitch I'm gonna show you exactly how to do this it does look intermediate this pattern is classified as easy so I can assure you it is easy I did use two strands for this pattern as well to give it a little bit more weight and it just glides right off the hook so we're gonna get right to the pattern I've gone ahead and done the initial chain of chain 46 and we're going to start the pattern it's really made up of just triple crochets single crochets skipping stitches it's quite easy and it does run in a 5 row repeat so once you get used to that repeat the pattern will come very easily so we're gonna go ahead and start the pattern and do a first triple crochet in the sixth chain from the hook so we're gonna count there one two three four five six and do a triple crochet right there in the six chain from the hook now we're gonna go ahead and chain three one two three and now we're gonna skip four one two three four and we're gonna do a single crochet right there in the next stitch now we're gonna chain three again one two three and we're gonna skip four again one two three four and we're gonna do a triple crochet right there in the next stitch now we're going to chain five three five and we're going to trip a crochet in the same stitch that you just did that triple crochet just like that and now we're going to repeat that exact pattern we just did so chain three skip four one two three four and do a single crochet in that next stitch there and now we're going to chain three one two three and we're gonna skip four one two three four and we're gonna do a triple crochet right there in that next stitch and now we're gonna chain five and then do a triple crochet in that same stitch you just did a triple crochet and there we go now we're gonna change three one two three and we're gonna skip four again one two three four we're gonna do a single crochet right there in the next stitch and we're gonna chain 3 again one two three and we'll do a triple crochet and we're gonna skip four one two three four and do a triple crochet in that next stitch there Oh got snag there try that again skip four triple crochet in the next there we go and now we're gonna chain 5 1 2 3 4 & 5 and we're going to do a triple crochet in that same stitch again that we did that triple crochet and we'll chain 3 1 2 3 we're gonna skip 4 1 2 3 4 and doing a single crochet in the next stitch and now we are reaching the end of this row because you've already repeated the pattern a few times so now we're going to skip 4 which really is the last stitch of this row so we're gonna go ahead and throw in a triple crochet in that last stitch there we're going to chain two one two and we're going to put a triple crochet in that same last stitch there so now we're going to go ahead and turn our work that row is now going to start with a chain 4 so 1 2 3 & 4 so now what makes this pattern easy as this base row here because now you're going to see the pattern repeat when you see a single crochet from the previous row you just did you want to put a triple crochet chain five triple crochet right into that single crochet from the previous row every time so I've gone ahead triple crochet there oops we're chaining five and now we're going to do a triple crochet right in that same single crochet from the previous row that we just did that triple crochet and now when you see the cluster of a triple crochet chain five triple crochet you're gonna want to put a single crochet in that chain five space so we're gonna chain three one two three and we're going to throw in a single crochet right into that chain five space from the previous row so let's train three again one two three and now we're back again to that repeat so there's the single crochet from the previous row so you know when you see that you're going to put a triple crochet chain five triple crochet five and triple crochet right and that same single crochet from the previous row and we're gonna chain three one two three and now when you see the cluster again of the triple crochet chain five triple crochet we're gonna put the single crochet right in that chain five space there and we're gonna chain three one two three and we're just gonna repeat that pattern so there's a single crochet and triple crochet now we've reached the end of this row and the previous row ended with a small cluster of a triple crochet chain two triple crochet so that row will end with a chain three and we're gonna single crochet right in to that cluster and that's what how that row ends so now we're going to turn our work and do the next row we're going to chain six two three four five and six now this row will start with a triple crochet in the very first stitch right there so there's your triple crochet and once you've done that now we're just going to be repeating the pattern that we've done so chain three and now you see that cluster again of triple crochet chain five triple crochet and we know we're going to throw in a single crochet right in that chain five space we're gonna chain three and there's your single crochet from the previous row so we're gonna do a triple crochet chain five and triple crochet in that same stitch there you go so that's exactly how the pattern repeats so I'll meet you at the end of this row okay so this row will end a little differently from the previous row we just did so I'm just finishing this up so now there's a chain five space so you know you're gonna do a single crochet there you're gonna chain three one two and three and this row that ends with a single crochet you're going to take that last stitch and you're gonna put a triple crochet chain two and a triple crochet so once you get this pattern going and you've memorized that which will seem quite easy after you do multiple rows you're going to realize that when you end a row with a triple crochet chain two triple crochet your next row is gonna start with a chain four when your row ends with just a single crochet you know that your next row is going to start with a chain six that will all make sense once you continue this pattern and get used to the repeat but again I used two strands for this pattern I really like the weight of it I really liked the way that it glides right off my hook I can't wait to see your wild flower crochet vest it will be available for free as always on your inspirations comm and also on my blog at oth crochet see a thanks for watching guys you

  1. When you go to the pattern page the main title says XS / S / M so I was sad. Converting patterns to plus size is a trial and error job for sure. I do it, but… Sigh. But when I download the pattern it goes up to a 4 xl. Great! Put it in the main title so us plus sized girls can be happy πŸ™‚
