Hello, my name is Kelsey and my name is Becky and we are TheSorryGirls and we are back at you with another episode of ‘Thrift Flip’. This time we are going to do clothing related thrift flips and spring and summer inspired fashion stuff. Let’s do it. I mean, this is just nice on it’s own. I don’t wanna do anything to it. I could work with this. Kelsey? Found your bridesmaid’s dress. Um… I mean, right? Ew, awkward. Who wore it better? Who wore it better, you tell me. What you got? What you got? The 80s called. They want their, they want their pencil skirt dress back. I think that’s actually kind of cool, what do you think? Take me salsa dancing. Hello. What did you get? Should we haul it? Okay. This is a small haul today, but I got, like, this eighties, like, button-up pencil skirt dress? Complete with shoulder pads. Complete. It’s full on shoulder-padded, so 80s. And then I have this flowy blue patterned long-sleeve dress and while it’s pretty and cute. It’s just not quite my style. So we’re going to adjust that to make it fit. Okay. Let’s get started. Let’s do it. Alright, so for my dress. I know that I need to get rid of these shoulder pads and I kind of want to make it, like, these open Kimono-type things I’ve seen these where they take like 90s or 80s dresses and then you wear your jean shorts with it and a belt, and it just kind of becomes this cool open shawl thing. So that’s my plan. In the end it won’t necessarily be a dress, but it’ll be really cool. So I need to get cutting, take out these shoulder pads, take off some of the sleeves and then open the whole thing up. Bye. I’m going to give myself some extra room when cutting off the sleeves just because I can always trim it a later And to replicate you just take the other piece and fold it on top, and you know you’re getting a similar cut. I’m going to cut down the middle of the dress. Oh yeah, it’s cute. Look at how cute it looks already. And now that I have it all open and kind of, like, a rough shape. I’m going to try this guy on. Okay. Okay. So, after further reviewing, I think I want to take off the collar as well. Just to kind of take in this whole upper part a little bit. That makes me a little nervous, but I got this. Okay, alright now to even out this button situation, so it lines up with the skirt part I cut. So I’m liking the way this is fitting, so now I’m just going to take some pins to mark the hem on all of the edges that I just cut. The arms, the front, around the back. And then I’m just going to sew the whole thing up. Okay, I am all done sewing the arms, and the front is all hemmed. Looking good. But before I show you guys the final, let’s see what Becky’s making. So I have this dress that I picked up. And I think I want to chop off the sleeves and turn it into, kind of a choker halter style dress. That’s the plan. But this material is super loose and flowy, so I’m hoping that it actually works out the way I want it to. So when I was looking at this dress I realized I’m going to have an issue putting the choker tie in. Because it’s going to make the neck really tight to go over my head. So I figure it out. Since this dress does have a slit in the front here, I can actually just flip the dress backwards and then use the slit at the back to get it over my head. I totally saves me extra sewing work, and that way I can use the dress to the best of its abilities. The first step is going to be cutting off the sleeves and that sort of angled halter shape. I’m going to fold it in half so I get the same shape twice. Okay, so I cut off the arms and I have kind of the shape I’m going for. But I decided instead of using the fabric that’s already there to form the choker collar part, I’m going to make a new one out of the sleeve material so it’s nicer, it’s longer, it just looks a bit more complete. But we’ll come back to that after. So what I’m going to do now is chop off that extra fabric at the top, and then hem all those edges I just cut. And I also took in the sides a tiny little bit with the pins so that it will fit a bit snugger. I’m going to go to the sewing machine now and sew all of that up. So I have fully cut, sewn, and hemmed, the top of my dress. And how it’s currently sitting is it’s got two pieces basically like this. The front and the back. And the back is actually the front of the dress that we flipped around so I can get it on easier. So, the final step is to make a giant strip of fabric that I can make into the choker that will hold the front and the back piece up. And I’m going to tie it together on the back with a bow. So how I’m going to do that, um, actually is by using the sleeves I cut off because they’re nice and long. So I’m going to cut some strips off the sleeves to make a long tie. So I just finished sewing this long strip out of the sleeve material. Which is perfectly the right amount to go around my neck and then be able to tie in a bow to hold it all together. So one of the final steps now, is to attach the middle of this strip to the front bit of the dress. So, our last step is to put this on. Because I’m going to need the help of someone to attach the strip to the back part of the dress. [friend]. I’m here. Aggressively here. So I have these strips pinned into place on the back pieces. Now, I’m just going to sew them together, and that’ll be it. Okay, so I now have the giant collar strips, I guess what we’re calling it now, attaching the front piece and the back piece the dress is complete. I’m going to go try it on, and then we can see how my dress looks compared to Kelsey’s. All of a sudden this is a competition. Apparently. [Hey!] That’s cute. See. That’s cute. Thank you I actually feel like these could be bought from, like, really high-end stores. Right? Especially, your’s is so trendy, mine’s a little more fancy, but. No, they’re so good. A little pretty different, pretty different. I think we did an awesome job transforming them from what they started out being. Yeah. Thank you guys so much for watching this video. 5. Love, love, love, making pretty dresses out of ugly clothing. You gave me more inspiration for my upcycled sewing channel – thank you so much! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Ok well….the flowered dress would have looked better as the halter. U could have made it a blousey halter at the top, cut the pencil skirt off short and it would have been really cute. The blue halter would have been fine if u added say 4" of some contrasting fabric because now its to short, but good try girls!

  7. why have I never thought of that Kimono gem. Omg, like I have soooo many junk from the 80's. Gonna try the revamp! thank you!!!

  8. wow, you guys are truly artists! I love, love both pieces!!! do you recommend a simple to use sewing machine that I could get started with?

  9. Thanks for sharing. I liked both dress remakes but I loved the kimono it's something I would make or should I say "Remake". Remaking is my style of sewing. I have several long sweat wet s remade from long knit dresses. Can't wait to review your videos that I just subscribed to.

  10. Wearing a something I got a Thrift store at work today. shopped at one for the first time years ago and most just had to be taken in nothing else needed to be done to them

  11. I LOVED the idea of using a long dress and how you used it. I would wear that a lot. The other dress looked so cute. Loved the way you joined front to back. Could be longer, but for young ladies, that's just fine. Comfy and cute for summer.

  12. I like both of them ok great job ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ girls do some with a old school jumper and pencil skirt thanks An I just found u ok love SheliaP ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿงฃ๐Ÿ‘–๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿ‘—๐Ÿ‘š๐Ÿงฅ๐Ÿ‘˜๐Ÿ‘š๐Ÿ‘˜๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ‘”๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿ‘–๐Ÿงฃ๐Ÿ‘—๐Ÿงฅ๐Ÿ‘˜๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ‘š๐Ÿงฅ๐Ÿ‘—๐Ÿ‘˜๐Ÿ‘š

  13. The back hem of the blue dress rides up higher than the rest of the dress, You will have to adjust the hem all the way around to make it even.

  14. Super cute transformations. Always wondered what else can be made out of a wedding dress. I have one boxed up in my closet since 1988

  15. Awesome and fun you guys are really fun and inspiring! someone who does not sew may get inspired and the world needs more crafters and sewist so I can keep buying supplies LOL

  16. I thought that the skirt part of the dress looked really nice on your frame maybey you can upcycle another dress into that kindof skirt.the flower dress.

  17. Thanks. Sharing is caring .Dear friend ,ARE YOU SAVED ? IF YOU DIED TONIGHT WILL YOU GO TO HEAVEN OR HELL?
The Bible says: God is holy and heaven is holy which means perfect. God can never let anybody or anything imperfect or sinful enter heaven.
Have you ever lied once? Stolen once? Hated once? The answer is yes .This makes you a liar, a thief and a murderer according to God. So if you were to die this night you will go to hell because you have sinned and the punishment of sin is death.
The excellent news is that GOD wants you in heaven with Him. But as a just GOD, He has to punish your sins. He has provided a way to save you .There is someone perfect who was willing to take your punishment, mine and the one of the whole world.
John 3:16 says: โ€œFor God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.โ€
So Christ died on the cross for our sins.

1- Admit you are a sinner.
2-Be willing to turn from your sins and turn to God (repent).
3-Believe that Jesus died for you, was buried and rose from the dead. Romans 10:9 say: โ€œthat if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.โ€
4-Now through prayer, invite Jesus into your life to become your personal savior.
5- Pray this prayer of salvation ๐Ÿ™ Say it aloud)
Dear God, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I admit I am a sinner. I thank you that you loved me so much to send Your Son to die in my place. I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross and shed His blood for my sins, was buried and rose again the third day.
I am willing to turn from my sins .I ask you to forgive me Father.
I now invite you Lord Jesus, to come into my heart and life as my personal Lord and Savior. Amen.
1-Read your Bible everyday to get to know Christ better.
2-Talk to God in prayer everyday.
3-Be baptized, worship, fellowship and serve with other Christians in a good bibelbelieving church.
    4-Tell others about Jesus.
NB: Congratulations .You have just made the most important decision of your life by accepting Jesus.

  18. Hi! Nice videos, but I'm screaming everytime I see both of you sewing. When you trace and cut your frabric, the pins follow indeed the lines, but when you sew, your pins should be perpendicular to the line you want to sew. So, you don't have to take them off while sewing, your needle goes over them! Faster, easier, efficient. Give it a try!

  19. I would make the pencil skirt dress into a jumpsuit, i think it would be more in my style! Anyway i love your channel

  20. Love what you did, love your ideas BUT…, it would be really great for you to show a better view maybe from the top by laying the dress on a flat surface and showing us from Top View exactly what you're doing.,what you plan to do before and then what you're doing exactly im detail cuz I did see you cutting around and you said you were going to cut here and there etc… while making the kimono and it would just be better to show a little more detail of how you're doing that so us newbies can get a better idea. Want to keep checking out your videos for your clothe makeovers. โœŒ๏ธ Awesome !

  21. I think you wasted that dress on a kimono. I woud have modified it as a dress. The blue one came out cute on Becky but I'm too busty for a halter.๐Ÿ˜€

  22. I would top stitch the upper edge of that dress collar for a subtle but pro touch. It would stand better, as well.

  23. Very nice. I like both pieces. I will definitely be making myself a kimono because the ones in the stores are overpriced and i can just use old clothes at a cheaper price point and alter it to what i want. Plus the fabric and colors are ideal. I will be making a few kimons for myself out of old dresses instead of throwing stuff out.

The flirty dress is nice, i can make those for my daughter. Thanks ladies, great video.

  24. I would like to see a bridal gown hack, from one wedding gown or two or three gowns to create one updated wedding gown out of the fabric and form of one to three old gowns.

  25. The kimono ended up rocking but Kelsey also could have totally brought the original back into trending territory!

  26. I just went to the thrift store to get a dress, cause I wear those kimonos all the time. Just couldn't bring myself to cut up an 80's dress I already own lol.

  27. maybe its just my screen colors… but it looked to me like the kimona could be worn over the dress; collab… I didn't read all the comments but didn't see anyone mention that, so maybe they looked color co-ordinated due to computer colors…
