How To Hang A Clothes Rail

I’m Jessie and I’ll be showing you how to
install a hanging rail. Hanging rails can be installed anywhere,
in your wardrobe, above windows, and they create extra hanging space. ♪ [music] ♪ I’ll be attaching a hanging rail to the
bottom of this cube shelf to create extra hanging space in a guest room. For this project you will need a drill,
some drill bits, a Phillips head screwdriver, some end caps and
screws, curtain rods, some brackets, a measuring tape, a hacksaw,
and masking tape. The first thing you need to do is measure
the distance between the wall and the front of the shelf to find the halfway
point. Take your bracket and place it over the
halfway point and mark where your pilot holes will go. ♪ [music] ♪ It’s very important when drilling a pilot
hole not to go too deep so measure half the length of your screw against the drill
bit and mark it with a piece of masking tape. Drill your pilot holes where you have
marked. ♪ [music] ♪ Screw the bracket on using your pilot
holes. ♪ [music] ♪ Put your curtain rods through your
brackets and mark where you need to cut it down to. Leave some space on the end of your
curtain rod for the end cap. ♪ [music] ♪ I’m going to take this outside and use a
hacksaw to cut it to size. ♪ [music] ♪ Now I’ve cut it to the right size,
I’ll put the end caps on and tighten them using a Phillips head screwdriver. ♪ [music] ♪ And there we go. I’ve added a hanging rail to our cube
storage. This is now a versatile piece that can be
used as a wardrobe when guests come to stay. ♪ [music] ♪
